Paul, I did receive the book and have found it quite useful. We are using it as we speak to plan our summer camp for 2001. Do you have any recommendations about whom I could contact with regard to 2 or 3 camps in Colorado and New Mexico. Specifically, I would like the feedback from out-of-council scouters on Camp Frank Rand (Chimayo Scout Reservation) in New Mexico and the Ben Delatour Scout Reservation in Colorado. I am curious about their troop's experience with these two camps and their thoughts about the program for first year scouts, merit badge programs, high adventure programs, staff quality and experience, facilities, food, etc. Again, thanks for checking (I should have already let you know I received same) as to whether I received the book and please know I will be recommending same to others.
The book arrived yesterday (Thursday). Not too bad on the delivery!
The information provided is exactly what I was looking for. All you need now is to add some reviews from people who have actually been to each camp. I'll be sure and let others know what a good resource it is.
Hi Paul : I received the book today, WOW it is super. We have a meeting tonight and I will show it off and I will be sure to let all know where I got it. You did a great job and I know it will be used a lot. Thank you.
Hello, I just picked up a copy of your book the other day at the Mecklenburg Council store in Charlotte.
First I wanted so let you know you did a great job! I'm sure we'll put it to use in our troop.
But I did notice a Couple of Camps missing.
One is Clear Creek Scout Camp, Mecklenburg County Council here in NC? The camp address is 9408 Belt Rd, Midland NC 28107. Phone 704-545-0958 We have been there numerous times. It is perfect for Cub Scouts.
Central North Carolina Council also has Camp Barnhardt in Albemarle NC? Central NC Council office is 32252 Hwy 24-27, PO Box 250, Albemarle NC 28002-0250. Their phone is 704- 982-0141.
Another missing camp is Camp Belden in Ohio. It was in Lorain County Ohio. We were there a long time back and I think it is still there? I think it is in the Heart of Ohio Council?
Received your book. It's great. Should be a great resource for all of Scouting. I plan on using it in part to verify my contact database for my business. We do a lot of business with BSA Councils that operate their own camps. Even sell some to BSA directly for use at Philmont. Do keep me advised of any future editions. I don't know how many you printed and how easily you can revise it. Once I get into using it, I'll drop you a note with more detailed comments. Every thought of doing one for Girl Scout Camps?
Thank you so much! That is exactly what I was looking for. This will be very helpful in many things that I do.
Hi Paul, Thank you SO MUCH for your wonderful book. I can appreciate how much time you put into this project.
I hope you will permit me to mention it in my camp column in ASTAR.
How are you handling distribution of the book - where should people write to order a copy?
Again, thank you very much - you did a great job!
Hi Paul. How are you? I received your book and it is AMAZING
THANKS FOR THE BOOK. THE COFFEE POT WILL ALWAYS BE ON FOR YOU. I WILL SEE THAT THE APPLICATION IS PASSED AROUND. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS FOR YEARS. WHAT A TERRIFIC LABOR OF LOVE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO WRITE ABOUT THE CAMP HERE I WILL GET SOME INFORMATION TO YOU , INCLUDING BROCHURES SHOWING THIS CAMP AND ITS PROPOSED EXPANSION. IT WILL REALLY BE SOMETHING AND SOON, WE HOPE.
CAMP LINWOOD HAYNE IS IN A STATE OF GROWTH, TOO. THERE IS A NEW RANGER THERE. A HECK OF A FINE FELLOW NAMED BUTCH BUONI. QUITE A CHARACTER. ONE CORRECTION NEEDED IS IN THE NAME OF HIS CAMP. IT IS "LINWOOD HAYNE" SPELLED WITH AN "I".
THIS CAMP HAS BEEN RENAMED KNOX SCOUT RESERVATION AND IS LOCATED IN LINCOLN COUNTY, GEORGIA, ON LAKE J. STROM THURMOND OR, AS IT IS KNOWN IN GEORGIA, CLARK HILL LAKE. WE WOULD LOVE TO BE MENTIONED IN THE SECOND EDITION AND WE WILL GET OUR PAPERWORK OFF TO YOU ASAP.
THANKS AGAIN. WHAT A SURPRISE!
